I first met ‘Grand Nada’ in 2017 at the “Intuition” exhibition in Venice, inside Palazzo Fortuny. A vast black painting by Thierry de Cordier filled the room, radiating an uncanny energy.
Its darkness resonated with my own melancholy, as if it absorbed it. I left feeling lighter, even healed. Since then, I’ve encountered Grand Nada in other forms, like the night sky, the Finnish polar night. like an old companion.
Grand Nada embodies existential nihilism: life has no given meaning. You must create your own. This album is about facing that darkness – and choosing for yourself.

Ghostly Figures is a lightly conceptual album. Portrayed as a panorama of feelings, those ghosts of the past are creating the layers of music that almost become tangible.
The album begins with a bittersweet taste of dub-based longing, and it goes through a cold, melancholic idm-flavoured phase with broken textures and misty soundscapes. Jolea combines organic sounds and instruments with electronics so subtly you don’t always hear the difference.
